Hip Flexor Stretch for Irish Dancers

An Irish dance swing, click, leap and quiver all use the hip flexor muscles to execute these movements. However if your hip flexors become tight, they can cause a host of movement problems. Add this hip flexor stretch to your flexibility routine at the END of your dance class.


- place one knee on the floor and against a wall (you may want to place a small towel or pad under your knee)

- step your other foot forward positioning your knee directly over your ankle

- maintaining a neutral pelvis (no anterior tilt/sway back), lean forward stretching the back leg hip flexor

- hold for 30 seconds and repeat on the opposite leg
